Different plants require different light levels to thrive. While many of our grow lights can support a wide variety of plants, some lights are better suited for specific lighting conditions.
This guide explains when certain lights may not be recommended based on a plant’s lighting needs.
Lights Best for Low to Moderate Light Plants
The following grow lights are best suited for low light to moderate indirect light plants.
Grove LED Grow Light
Versa Tabletop Grow Light
Aura Ambient Grow Light
These lights work well for plants such as:
Pothos
Snake Plant
ZZ Plant
Philodendron
Peace Lily
Spider Plant
Money Tree
Ferns
However, these lights are not recommended for plants that require bright indirect light or direct sunlight, such as:
Fiddle Leaf Fig
Bird of Paradise
Citrus Trees
Succulents
Cacti
Most herbs
Plants with higher light requirements typically need stronger grow lights like the Aspect or Highland.
When Vita Grow Bulbs May Not Be the Best Option
The Vita LED Grow Bulb works well for many plants when positioned close to the plant in a lamp or pendant fixture.
It can support:
Low light plants
Moderate indirect light plants
Some bright indirect light plants
However, Vita bulbs are generally not recommended for plants that require strong direct light, such as:
Large tropical plants
Fruit trees
Succulents and cacti
Plants that normally grow in full sun outdoors
These plants typically perform better under Aspect or Highland grow lights, which provide stronger output.
Grow Lights Recommended for High-Light Plants
For plants that require bright indirect light or direct light, we recommend:
Aspect LED Grow Light
Highland Track Light System
These lights provide the highest output and widest coverage in our lineup and can support nearly all indoor plant types, including:
Fiddle Leaf Fig
Bird of Paradise
Citrus Trees
Large tropical plants
Succulents
Cacti
Herbs and edible plants
Because their light intensity can be adjusted by changing the hanging height, they can also be used for lower light plants when positioned farther away.
